Position Summary: Payroll processing
Location: Winnipeg
Principal Duties: Responsible for the timely processing of payroll within strict, specified deadlines. This includes: entering adjustments; special pay; deductions; memo codes; vacation pay requests; produce records of employment (ROE) and paying casual employees through accounts payable.Review payroll for accuracy before distribution.Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts; reconcile remittances to government agencies; complete various Stats Canada surveys.

Assist in the preparation and processing of T4s for year-end; balance T4s to payments made and file annual returns with federal and provincial governments and WCB agencies.

Prepare various reports on a period basis; analysis of payroll-related accounts.

Prepare and submit cheque requests for payments relating to payroll processing (provincial taxes, RRSP/DPSP, union dues, health & welfare, pension, WCB, etc.)

Verify payments of withholding taxes by payroll provider (ADP).

Ensure updates on all payrolls are processed on a timely basis: change in deduction amounts, change in tax rates, etc.

Set up new payroll codes with ADP and any reports that may be affected.

Ensure all deadlines are met for payroll processing, all payments, filing of T4s, annual returns, etc.

Other duties as assigned in support of Payroll and HR Department functions and other tasks as may be assigned.

Working Conditions: Work primarily in the Winnipeg General Offices. Day shift with some overtime. Reports to the Manager, Human Resources.
Competencies/
Requirements:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner required. Working towards PCP will be considered.Minimum of at least one year experience in Payroll.Knowledge or experience with ADP/PCPW Payroll and Report Smith.

Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality and security.

Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with external customers.

Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines; plan and organize workload; multi-task and prioritize.

Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Excel and Word).

Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, flexibility, dependability, team player and customer focus.
