YRC Freight’s Freeze Protection service keeps freight from freezing by monitoring outdoor temperatures, providing special handling procedures (like access to warm rooms throughout the network) and keeping freezable shipments moving on our faster network. In other words, no one is going to take any heat over cold-sensitive shipments.
YRC Freight Freeze Protection aims to keep products that freeze at or below 32 ̊F/0 ̊C safe. We monitor forecasts using AccuWeather, keep freight moving, provide special handling procedures, and have access to warm spaces throughout the network.
YRC Freight provides freeze protection service for a variety of industries, including chemical and allied products, food and beverage, candy, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agricultural.

- Designating sheltered areas to hold freezable freight during severe weather
- Following procedures for protecting goods while in transit and over weekends using warm rooms when needed

- Delivery to all direct points in the continental United States and to and from Canada and Mexico (Pickup exclusions may apply. Please refer to YRC Freight Rules and Conditions (Tariff 100, Item 810)
Excluded items

- Food warehouse shipments: We do not have the means to protect these types of shipments from freezing at distribution centers where hour- or day-long delays are common
- Dropped trailers: Shipments loaded onto spotted trailers cannot be properly protected from freezing in certain climate conditions
