T.J. O’Connor was named Chief Operating Officer in June 2019, his most recent advancement as a tenured member of the YRC Worldwide team. T.J. continues to serve as president of YRC Freight. His career began with Roadway in 1982, where he steadily rose through multiple positions of increasing responsibility, culminating as Western Division Vice President. He went on to leadership positions as President and CEO of USF Bestway and then President & CEO of Reddaway, the role he held prior to his current YRC Freight position.
O’Connor supports advancements in the transportation industry by serving on the Board of Directors of SMC³, the leading provider of data, technology and education as an integrated solution to the freight transportation community. He also provides leadership via community service. He has served as a member of The Robert W. Franz Leadership Cabinet of the Providence Cancer Center, a world recognized organization engaged in the fight against cancer. O’Connor has also served in various committee leadership roles for the California Trucking Association, Oregon Trucking Association and the American Trucking Association.
O’Connor is a graduate of Columbia University where he received a bachelor of arts degree in political science. At Columbia, he was selected based on his demonstrated leadership capabilities as a student body representative to the elite Sapphire Society. He was also named outstanding member of the Columbia crew team.

Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Tim Haitz has dedicated his career to serving at YRC Freight. He joined the company in 1985 as a dispatcher, and rose through the ranks in a variety of operations, sales and marketing roles over the past 31 years before being promoted to his current position as senior vice president of sales and marketing in 2016.
Prior to being named to his present role, Haitz previously served as vice president of sales and vice president of corporate accounts for two years, where he established a unified sales team with a singular focus on collaboration and growth, uniting the efforts of both local and corporate sales.
In his new role as senior vice president of sales and marketing, he is dedicated to creating market share growth through a customer-centric organization, as well as overseeing the launch of the new Accelerated service line. Haitz holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University.

Phil J. Gaines
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Phil Gaines has served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for YRC Freight since September 2013, and also served in the same capacity from March 2009 through March 2012. In this role, he has overall responsibility for the financial operations of the corporation’s largest subsidiary.
During 2009 and 2010, Gaines also served as senior vice president – finance, and senior vice president and chief accounting officer for YRC Worldwide, the parent company.
From July 2008 until the combination of Yellow Transportation and Roadway in March 2009, Gaines served as president of Yellow Transportation, where he was responsible for overall leadership, direction and performance of the organization, consisting of over 20,000 employees across North America.
Gaines began his career at the company in 1989 as a staff accountant and has held a variety of leadership positions at both the parent company and operating-unit levels.
Gaines graduated with highest distinction from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He served on the board of directors of CommunityAmerica Credit Union from 1994 through 2011 and was chairman of the board from 2002-2004. Gaines is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
